Bilan azoté des flux tidaux d'un marais salé à végétation halophyte ArchiMer
Silva, Celine; Raillard, Marieke; Bodoy, Alain; Hussenot, Jerome.
In spring 2001, during a complete tidal cycle, nitrogen fluxes between the sea and the salt marsh were calculated. The marsh (1198 m2) covered in 75 % by halophytes, with 46 % by the sea purslane, Halimione portulacoides. The nitrogen balance shows that the salt marsh imports nitrogen micro-particules (2,09 g) by sedimentation, exports dissolved nitrogen (4,13 g), and that the macro-element part (-1,02 g in fauna and vegetable refuse) in the global mass balance (3,06 g) is not unimportant. Nitrogen fluxes are mainly under inorganic form for the incoming flux (mainly NO3), and under organic form for the outgoing flux. The halophyte vegetation of this marsh seems to play thus a dominating role in the tidal nitrogen exchanges, by a mechanical action on the...

Croissance de juvéniles de Nereis diversicolor nourris avec des détritus d'halophytes ArchiMer
Meziane, T; Retiere, C.
The comparative effect of the uptake of fresh and degraded detritus of halophytic plants, harvested from salt marches of the Mont Saint-Michel Bay (France), on the growth of a juvenile population of the annelid polychaete N. diversicolor (L.) was studied under experimental conditions in summer 1993. Fresh and degraded detritus of Spartina anglica, Halimione portulacoides and Salicornia europeae, as well as the green algae Enteromorpha sp. were distributed separately to homogenous set of juveniles for a 75 d period. The highest growth rate was obtained for worms fed with Enteromorpha sp. Administration of fresh detritus of a given halophyte species to N. diversicolor juveniles always leads to a significantly higher growth rate than did degraded detritus....

Growth, biomass production and ions accumulation in Atriplex nummularia Lindl grown under abiotic stress AGRIAMBI
Melo,Hidelblandi F. de; Souza,Edivan R. de; Almeida,Brivaldo G. de; Freire,Maria B. G. dos S.; Maia,Fabíola E..
ABSTRACT Atriplex nummularia is a halophyte of great importance in the recovery of saline soils and is considered as a model plant to study biosaline scenarios. This study aimed to evaluate biometric parameters, biomass production and the accumulation of ions in A. nummularia grown under abiotic stresses. Cultivation was carried out in a Fluvic Neosol for 100 days, adopting two water regimes: 37 and 70% of field capacity. Plants were irrigated with saline solutions containing two types of salts (NaCl and a mixture of NaCl, KCl, MgCl2 and CaCl2) at six levels of electrical conductivity: 0, 5, 10, 20, 30 and 40 dS m-1, arranged in a 6 x 2 x 2 factorial with 4 replicates, forming 96 plots. At the end of the experiment, plants were divided into leaves, stem...

Herbaceous biomass yield in the saline soils during the dry and rainy seasons in the municipality of Pentecoste, CE, Brazil Ciência Rural
Dias,Francisco Yago Elias de Castro; Bonilla,Oriel Herrera; Lucena,Eliseu Marlônio Pereira de; Lacerda,Claudivan Ferreira de; Oliveira,Daniel Pereira de; Oliveira,Davi Rodrigues.
ABSTRACT: This study was an endeavor undertaken to assess the biomass yield of the species that are native to a particular region characterized by saline soil, in the Irrigated Perimeter Curu-Pentecoste, in the municipality of Pentecoste-CE, corresponding to the qualities of moisture, pH and electrical conductivity (EC) of the soil. The experiment was conducted in six areas, with area 1, the one nearest to the collecting drain, the end having the highest salinity and area 6, the one furthest away from the collecting drain, the end with the lowest salinity. The factorial design with the 2 x 6 scheme was adopted, in which the first and second factors referred, respectively, to the seasons (drought and rain collection) and collection areas. In each area,...

Programme Expérimental de Réhabilitation des Fossés à Poissons (1997-2000) ArchiMer
Bel Hassen, Malika; Prou, Jean.

Seventy-year chronology of Salinas in southern France: coastal surfaces managed for salt production and conservation issues for abandoned sites ArchiMer
De Wit, Rutger; Vincent, Alice; Foulc, Ludovic; Klesczewski, Mario; Scher, Olivier; Loste, Claudine; Thibault, Marc; Poulin, Brigitte; Ernoul, Lisa; Boutron, Olivier.
After World War II, twenty-nine coastal Salinas (122 km2), located in the vicinity of coastal lagoons and in deltas, were exploited along the Mediterranean coastlines in South France. Today, only five of these are still actively producing salt, currently representing 175 km2. Concomitant with the abandonment of many of the smaller Salinas, the larger Salinas in the Rhône delta (Camargue) strongly increased their surfaces at the expense of natural ecosystems, of which a part has also been abandoned after 2009. This paper documents these changes in landscape use by chronological GIS mapping and describes the fate of the 91 km2 of abandoned Salina surfaces. The majority of this area (88 km2) is included in the Natura 2000 network, among which most (74 km2)...
